| I'm running a turbo ls1 with two garrett gt3582r's with air to air intercooler at the moment . Engine is blow thru carb making 1000fwhp . Purchased a new vehicle and no room for intercooler so going to e85 to solve problem. I've purchased a CSU e85 carb and have sorted fuel system but not sure if i have to upgrade turbo's to get the same hp ?? I was looking at the Squirrel Performance turbo calculator and with BSFC of .80 the AIR lb/min go from 61 on gas to 101 on E85 and 22psi boost to 46psi boost for same hp. This doesn't sound right !! Is it something to do with AFR ?? Thanks for any help |

BSFC should be in that ball park. Max power AFR's on E85 are considerably richer than on gasoline. Your fuel flow will increase to about 1.3 - 1.4 x your gasoline fuel flow for the same air flow.

You will make more power on the same airflow however since E85 has a lower oxygen demand for complete combustion. You will probably need less boost to make the same power.

Typical methanol Thermal energy 8,637 BTU/lb 5.00:1 max power rich fuel air mixture = 1727.4 BTU/lb

Hope that helps.
"In theory" you should be able to make from 5%-20% more power on the same airflow.
If I were you, I would try it with the current turbos first.
If you have no choice but to run a hot air system (no intercooler) E85 should help but if you still more cooling on boost, take a look at the water/alcohol injection systems used by the turbo buick crowd, they make some stupid power on hot air systems with water injection under high boost.
