I know there is some backlash to ethanol in fuel in general. In my state ( Maine) there is currently a bill waiting to at least return premium to no ethanol.
As technology makes it feasible to turn things other than corn into ethanol in a large scale it should get more prevalent , of course gas prices rising would help ethanols case too IMO but lets hope it doesnt take that.
remember even if e85 stops being available at the pump you should still be able to buy e98 by the drum and mix your own..
13 to 1 bbc huh ? drag only car ? whats it in ? _________________ PB's 1/4 mi 12.209, 117.75 trap ,1/8 mi 7.76 ,93.99 trap , 1.949 short time 4.53 0-60

| Its a street strip car.A 1979 malibu ex 10.5 car.Chrome moly cage and 35 spline 12 bolt. The reason im switching to e85 is because the 6.50-6.75 per gallon race fuel and trying to find it is getting really really old.Its not going to be anything crazy.I figure mid to low 10s on engine only and then hit it with 175 shot.We have several stations with e85 around here so if I can figure it all out it will be a good choice....take care |

It is hard to say which way the country will go regarding ethanol fuels. Some decisions are not based on facts, but politics, special interests groups etc. I personally think it is part of the solution. I don't care if it is made from sugar cane, corn, barley, or switch grass. That should be for the producers to figure out.
I am not in favor of E15 vs E10. The emphasis should be on using the ethanol the US can make in high percentage applications and take advantage of the properties of E85. IMO, low percentage ethanol with gasoline just gives ethanol a bad name (bad mileage, cost, etc. with no performance gain).
I think high percentage ethanol (70-85) will be around for a long time. But how many stations carry it, that is a tougher question. |
