I am having problems with the boosters not fitting unless I mill them. Is it ok to mill the booster to get them to slide down into the bores?

your boosters are somewhere around .317"

and you need to end up with around .279" to fit your dominator....

SO:

317 - 279 = .038

the booster pin needs to stay centered so:

.038 / 2 = .019

you take .019" from each side of the booster and it should press into the mainbody....the booster pin should slide straight in.....

the way i do it is machine one side from .317 - .019 to an over all width of .298.

then I machine the other side from .298 - .019 down to .279, this should center the booster pin.

I build E85 carbs, and have done alot of them.

after you get done, if its still not running right, I will convert it for you....

and being that you have most of the correct parts, I will Knock $50 off my regular Dominator conversion price of $475.

I have one of the boosters in there , but the pin is not centered. Guess I took off to much off one side . Do you think I can still work with this booster . I will mill a little more to get it centered. The other 3 I will make sure only .019 is milled off each side.

see above quote.

it has to be a press in fit, taking too much will cause slop and could result in a booster coming apart and falling in your engine at 7000rpm....be safe, change the booster.

better double check your widths, my figures were an example.
you might need to move that .019 +/- about .005 to get the snug press in fit depending on where your starting......do the math, use some calipers and figure yours out.

Thanks, for the help . Will measure to be sure of widths. Also need to know where I could order another booster. My conversion is starting to be a pain in the **zz.

Now be nice Mr Sullens. You're getting a might bit crotchety on a guy who has the guts to do it himself . . . Wink

That being said though, I agree that a new booster is in order. They're cheap and its only a few days to get one shipped out.

I respect that, really I can....Im not mad at him for not calling me, I get mad at these companies that send people "KITS" and fail to enlighten them on all the other little details that should be done....Im sure he just didnt know.

I would like to see how many people put the quick fuel blocks in and are having the bowl empty in a few days because they used the blocks on a holley main body....

or how many people dont know to change the air bleeds.

I agree. Imagine the guy that thought it was a
"bolt-on" kit and finds out the boosters need a machine shop. Or 2-circuit vs 3 circuit carb?

Ok, it's me again. Justed wanted to post an update. I called quick fuel about this kit . Well, this kit is for a 3 circuit carb and I've got a 2 circuit dominator. I will be sending the main body to them so they can turn in into a 3 circuit (80$) . They will be installing the correct boosters for me. The boosters that came with the kit are for a "newer" dominator . So , I will send this main body out on Monday .

The main reason I am doing the conversion is to make it have less of a hit on my wallet . I want to drive it to cruise ins and to work once in a blue moon. Here's a small vid clip

lets see if you get the total track proven conversion done for less than $475.....$475 is what I charge to do a proven/tuned conversion on a 4500 and I pay return shipping.

Im thinking your probibly close to or over that $475 now with parts, shipping and all.....and its not even tuned or on the car yet.

when your ready, let me know and I will fix it for you.....even cut you a deal...$425 and I will still pay shipping.

...ever stop and ask if maybe you should have sent it to me to start with?....you would be driving it by now.

Believe me , at this point I am sure I would have been better of with just sending it in to you. But I chose quick fuel (for not knowing any better) and have got a kit on my lap that I already commited to using. I talked to a guy named Derrick at quick fuel and he's been helpful with my problem.

Jay, thank you for your confidence in me,

Jay is a mud racer that did what I feel was really well this past weekend...6th out of 25 racers.
he was the first to go all the way through 150' x 3-4' deep mud pit, and yes, he went out the end.

Jay had a QFT E85 Carb that had some issues...I will let him elaborate on that if he chooses.
but anyway, I modified it up to meet his needs and the thing screamed.

listen to this small block mopar scream......click the screen!
