|

The gas tank I have in my car (1999 buick regal) is metal lined with a poly linner shield on the outside of tank for protection
Now I've heard good and bad about plastic and metal tanks.
Would I want to convert to a plastic tank, or not if I switch to E-85. Give me your opinion.
Thanks. _________________ 1994 Trans Am GT - Stuff

i don't think a metal tank is a problem ...
although a plastik tank with exactly the corrosion resistance to the fuel probably is a preferable solution _________________ I guess Hubert Reeves thinks this is an important matter
Cost of Can. Gov. studies on global warming ? xx M$
Cost of industrial scientific studies for alternative energy sources ? x M$
Cost of a 100$ batch of distilled ethanol ?

I beleive it is stainless steel, which shouldn't be too bad
A new GM plastic 2000+ W-body gas tank is $400
I think I may just take the risk, although I don't see it hurting it that bad. _________________ 1994 Trans Am GT - Stuff

I would stick with the metal and if it has problems just drain it and swap it at that time. _________________ 2003 Grand Prix GTP

I remember being in that position, with 14k miles powered by E85 I'm glad I did. _________________ 2003 Grand Prix GTP

allright. I'm going to do it! Hopefully it doesn't take too long to get the tuner/injectors. _________________ 1994 Trans Am GT - Stuff

The tuner will take a while to get, and the injectors come from Canada so there is a chance of them getting stuck in customs for a few weeks(that happened to me). Hopefully the injectors will be in stock at ZZP.
The tuner is always back ordered due to very high demand and can take as long as 4-6 weeks to get. The good thing about this is DHP will throw in the A/D support for free. This is where you would plug in a wide band o2 sensor or EGT sensor so it would be logged with the rest of the sensors. It normally costs $100 bucks for this option.
Make sure as soon as you order the tuner to request forum access so you can learn how to use it before you get it. That way you will already know the basics before you get it. _________________ 2003 Grand Prix GTP

A/D support? Do I need to get a wideband O2 sensor for this? _________________ 1994 Trans Am GT - Stuff

You don't have to get a wide band sensor, but if you ever did you could plug it into the tuner to have the data logged in the same file as the rest of your sensors. It makes life much easier. I didn't use my A/D plugs for the first year and a half of owning it. _________________ 2003 Grand Prix GTP

a custom fuel cell in stainless steel could also suit your needs _________________ I guess Hubert Reeves thinks this is an important matter
