I know most people don't have carburated engines anymore but FYI, Edelbrock will be releasing an E85 carb in the spring of 07. There isn't much about it on their web site yet, other than the press release.

It looks like E85 is reaching critical mass now, with large companies bringing out some of the critical infrastructure components folks need to use the stuff, growth will be even faster.

Now if someone would just come out with some fuel pumps "certified" for E85. (both the gas station type for vendors, and auto fuel system type for users)

You could,,, but you'll most likely get worse ethanol mileage, and dont' forget your ignition system is an integral part of your fuel injection system so that will have to be replaced as well. Your intake manifold will have to be changed to one with out fuel injectors with a carbeurator mount on top. Last but not least, you'll also have to change fuel pumps.

I'd imagine there would be some wiring involved as well, not to mention a nearly useless wiring harness that's a rather larg PITA to remove.

Just my 2¢

no i'm not in the wiring harness issue yet ... as far as replacing the injection with carburated, mechanically it's not a problem since the very year of the engine production i have, there was a carburated model on same engine. And surely this would reduce performances ... since carburated model has less power.

i'm not working on a car on this project ... yet ... i'm working on engines ... on engine stands.

This is the first blurb I've seen on it.

http://www.edelbrock.com/media/news/2006/automotive/103106_04.html

Once we get to the point that specialty component manufactures like Edelbrock start manufacturing conversion parts we have pretty well reached critical mass as far as momentum toward a strong fuel ethanol fuel economy.

Now you have some big money vendors with a vested interest in seeing E85 become more available.

That makes me a happy panda!! Wink
