I am new to the board and agree with the many applications for E85. I cannot figure out why we do not promote this as a national strategy. After all, we are so tied up in Iraq and the mid-east for the foreseeable future. We need to have our own energy sources. So why can't Bush see this. We can only squeeze a few more years of oil out of our own reserves. E85 would be one of the steps in the right direction.

He has and has been advocating it for some time --- the problem is that the main stream media has ignored his calls for energy independence.

He even mentioned ethanol in his state of the union address

Quote:
And my budget provides strong funding for leading-edge technology from hydrogen-fueled cars, to clean coal, to renewable sources such as ethanol. Four years of debate is enough. I urge Congress to pass legislation that makes America more secure and less dependent on foreign energy.

The problem is that he is so beholden to the texas oil barons that he is unable to bring forward a real energy policy that is not extraction based. (IE ANWR)
