|
|
| I recently purchased an E85 capable '07 Impala. The salesman told me that I should wait to use E85 in the car until I have used two tanks of regular gasoline. This doesn't make any sense to me and I couldn't find anything in the owner's manual to verify this, but still I wait. The only thing the manual mentions is to drive a few miles after switching fuel types. Is there any legitmate reason to wait? |

Why do they recommend u wait? If I had to guess it would be to baseline the computer using pure or E10 gasoline to allow it to learn the proper fuel feedback curve from the oxygen sensors. This is the same way it is able to use E85. It goes into a learning period after adding a min of 3
gallons and baselines its future fuel curve program from these calculations. Their is a thread here somewhere documenting this process.
written within the last 8 weeks or so I believe, may want to search for it....
My advice, follow his and use some normal gasoline 1st and then begin E85 fills if desired from there.....

He didn't explain why I should wait and at the time I didn't think to ask. I don't usually trust anything that comes out of a salesman's mouth.
I filled up with E85 last night. I was only 1/4 tank short of the two tank "recommendation" anyway.
I'm happy to be using E85. |
