Jeffrey - some guys use it and I do not think it can hurt anything but I am not to enthused about most after market additives. Your best friend with storing E85 is to keep the tank or container full and sealed at least as well as modern cars do that are vented thru a carbon canister. (or completely empty the tank). Most guys I know of just seal their containers and keep them covered and shaded in a cool dry place off the ground. If you have an older system or a fuel cell it would be best to close off the cell vent if you are not going to run it for a while. You just want to minimize or eliminate air exchange where fuel is- in reality this was always true of gas and especially diesel fuel too since condensation was always possible and that is a real killer of diesel injection systems (and bacterial infections of fuel). We always lost our light ends in gas too which led to fuel losses and especially the light ends needed for starting.

You do not really indicate how you are using and storing E85 (or blends) so it is harder to advise. I have stored a modern 2wd FFV pickup for 6 months with e85 in the tank (2wd drive is worthless here in winter)-- i did start it once or twice per month to keep the battery charged. With a carb'ed car for long term storage I would consider sealing the fuel cell and either draining the carb or filling it with gas since it is impossible to seal off a carb. If this is your application and you want an idea for easy filling of a carb in a streetable occasional- let us know- a fellow in Tennesee has a pretty slick setup posted on the web I can point you to if I can find it.

If you are asking more from the E10 viewpoint for small engines then I would recommend the same as above carb'ed engine BUT--- I have 3 old chainsaws, a snowblower, and a lawnmower that I have done none of this on (other than to keep the fuel storage continers sealed- not the engine tanks) and I only use stabil in them and even in them maybe only 30% of the off-seasons. Been doing that for 5 years without a problem.

If you want a great additive to gas, E85 or Methanol get Klotz Uplon fuel lube. Been using it in the lawnmowers and pit scooter, one of the best fuel lubes you can get. BLP.com sells it by the quart if needed.

+1 for all of Klotz lubricants. I got a case and I'll be set for a long time.

when i went to order my trans fluid, the store has a lucas ethanol treatment there.
the bottle says it works with gas, all ethanol blends including straight alcohol.
says it helps protect against the corrosive properties in the fuels.
9 bux and mixes with 80 gals.

5 years using E85 and never any issues with storage. I do not use any top end lube, fuel stabilizers, or anything.

Until this year my car was always stored in an unheated garage, usually with a full tank, but this year is has been at 1/4 tank. In Michigan the temp and humidity changes are pretty radical so I wouldn't worry about storing with a full tank -- without any stabilizer.

I would suggest storing full rather than empty because empty is never truly empty. I have seen a few "white crusties" on the metal disc in accelerator pump diaphragms when they were stored for a long time "empty" (actually had a little left in the bottom.

That being said, I would be interested in hearing about any benefits of Stabil for storage.
