Vehicles with this FlexFuel logo can use E-85 ethanol.
If your vehicle can run on ethanol, you can fill up for $1.85 a gallon on Friday at three stations in San Diego County.
The deal on E85 comes as fuel prices have been rising. It is a promotion by Pearson Fuels, a San Diego-based company working to expand the use of ethanol.
The locations are among more than 100 taking part in Alternative Fuel Vehicle Odyssey Day across the country.
E85 is a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. It can be used by cars and trucks that bear the FlexFuel logo.
Pearson's General Manager, Mike Lewis, estimates that there are more than 40,000 such vehicles in San Diego County.
Proponents of ethanol say it can reduce reliance on foreign oil, reduce pollution and cut greenhouse-gas production.
Pearson sells E85 at Bressi Ranch Shell at 2740 Gateway Road in Carlsbad, The Oceansider, 1660 Oceanside Blvd., in Oceanside, and at its original location at 4067 El Cajon Blvd., in City Heights.
It plans to offer the special price from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
