Council Bluffs, IA, has one E85 pump. Before the hurricane:
10% EtOH = $2.20/gal
E85 = $1.60/gal
After the Hurricane:
10% EtOH = $3.00/gal
E85 = $3.20/gal !!!!!!! |

Hi,
I suppose the station didn't want a "run" on the E85... If it had costed less then Gasoline... people may have dumped it in there tank regardless of any issues running it.
With that said... 20 cents MORE is a bit outside the "stop the customer from draining our E85 tank dry" idea...
Maybe the station posted it wrong. $3.20 for the Unleaded and $3.00 for the E85... |

| Ethanol supply is extremely low right now, hence the new prices. Ethanol actually hit more than $3/gallon in MN, making it very difficult to price E85 at historic levels. While this will be short-term, it is accurate today. As the price of gasoline falls, less ethanol will be blended (just like before) and the price will come back down. Increased ethanol production and long-term contracting by the retailers are the way to battle this issue. I hope that both are true in the new future. |

Hi,
Checked the e85fuel.com station locater last night and noticed several stations as "closed" or "unavailable".
I assume that may mean their E85 tank(s) are dry because of more people trying to use it as a cheap sub for regular gasoline.
Has the average E85 price been steady since the buildup/landfall of Rita?
Thanks,
D |
