to install the flex tex unit you only have to unplug the fuel inj. and plug it in the plug from the unit and plug the one from the unit to the fuel inj. than ground the flex tex unit box black wire to ground. mount the box and switch it to what you are going to use for fuel, E 85 or reg gas

Sounds like a very simple installation. Really though, I'm wondering if the EEC-IV is already capable of burning an alcohol rich fuel without any modifications, I’ve only heard of one person trying it and I was told they were successful.

like I said, you can switch this unit for E85 or gaseoline.
I can leave unit on gas and engin runs good with what I guess is about 50-50 mixture, but the check engine light will come on, code lean mixture

I have used
E 85 for over two years in my ford ranger with a 2.3 L, no problems.
get about 10% less mileage. use a flex tex unit

Mine is a 99 escort ZX2, I get about 15% less mileage. I used the Xcelplus engine treatment and gained close to that on reg gasoline. I broke my transmision before I could test it on E85. I broke the fork for 3 & 4th gear inside the transmition. It stuck in 4th. I almost have it back up and going again. Razz

Of coarse E85 price here in Lincoln, NE has gone up way more than it should be. $2.59 Evil or Very Mad

My 1996 ranger has the 2.3 liter with duel plugs, that might make the difference in gas milage???

Any ideas on what the ideal compression ratio for the 2.9 Liter V6 engine would need to be to obtain the greatest gains in terms of fuel mileage? I am not certain but I believe stock it is 9:1
