I have a 96 chevy K1500 with a vortec 350 motor, I overhauled the motor 15000 miles ago, put in a bigger cam, plained heads and block. I am running striaght E85 in it. It runs great, except when the temp. gets up around 90 degrees or higher than it starts alittle harder and back fires, but I rev it up a couple times and it will run fine. Just thought I would let people know my experience with E85.
My gas milage dropped about 10%
Price of E85 1.49
regular 1.99 in Nebraska |

Hmm, my motorcycle seems to run better, the hotter the weather is. But below about 40F, it can take a few seconds of cranking to start. I get backfires if I pump the throttle before it starts.
$1.49 is about as good as I've seen here in the Twin Cities. Sounds like a good deal all around!
My highway mileage also dropped 10% (got 49.2 mpg going to Mankato and back last week!). But I think that in-town mileage suffered 15%. I get the feeling that gasoline does better when the engine hasn't come up to temp. yet. |
