| I wouldn't think you'd be able to burn ethanol in an engine designed for diesel fuel. |

Actually, there is an ethanol blend for diesels: E-95. I'm curious to learn how it functions? > Fuel milage, engine performance, & any problems, or benefits from E-95? I suspect it would be very clean burning, & with greatly reduced carbonization of internal components. (Just speculation!)

There is a write-up on ADM's experience using E-95 in several diesel trucks here:
http://www.eere.energy.gov/afdc/pdfs/adm_cs.pdf
They noted reduced fuel efficiency versus diesel, lower particulate, marginally lower NOx, but higher HC and CO emissions. |

OK, it's 95% Ethanol, what's the other 5%?
Could the formula be a mixture of Ethanol, & SVO?
As I've pointed-out in other posts, the poorer milage of the Ethanol blends is going to be a major problem when these Fuels are introduced to the Public. As we've seen, the promotions of the past year, including MO Sen Jim Talent's, hyping the environmental benefits, as well as aiding U.S. Farmers, have failed to excite the general Public. I will say that I saw the TV bit featuring MO Sen Talent, the day before Katrina, (which blew all other News away).
After the inational novelty wears off, Drivers will not opt to pay extra for the E Fuels!
Another problem is, unlike say cell phones, even with the $ of a barrel going to = $ > 80.oo, the oil companys arn't agressively seeking alternative, or competive fuels. They know the Driving Public has to have their product. They just keep raising the $, while making excessive profits. Unless there is actually a stopage of Crude, this trend will likely continue.
I'm not a Chemist, but I'm curious as to how Producers of: E-95 arrived at that formula? Is that the optimized blend for the best milage & HP? Or, was it arrived at thinking the greater the % of Ethanol, the more Corn can be grown & sold? _________________ STAY ALIVE = 75 m.p.h.
