Peak torque on the TDI is at 2000 RPM. Power drops off after 4000 RPM stock, and different software in the ECU changes that. Here's a picture I took when I was upgradeing my instrument cluster:



With different software it pulls well into the redline. New fuel injectors help too.

Yes, the turbo is tiny, but that helps it spool quickly. The compressor just 15cm across, but stock you make about 13 PSI of boost. I've modified mine to 16 PSI, and it runs great!

We have been making biodiesel in our automotive class. So far it is pretty easy to make and it shows promise. We put a rubber O-ring and a metal nut in a jar with some biodiesel. So far nothing has happened to either one. We also tried this with different blends of ethanol and gasoline to test the myth that ethanol will eat away some metals and rubbers.
