Thanks for the followup Roadtrip-- how did you clear out the black goo in the intake-- with gasoline or another similar hydrocarbon solvent? Did it come off easily?
What did you find with the valves and seal's condition?
Exactly what injector are you using? |

I had my carb off today. I can see down to the port opening in the heads.
I had a VERY small amount of a sticky substance on the floor of the plenum. (I could barely tell a color)
The amount is nothing like in his heads- in fact if I wasn't looking for it I may not have seen it!
Last year there was more black stuff accumulated in my intake.
I am using fuel from a different supplier now than last year.
It seems to me that it accumulates where the fuel may drop out of the flow or puddle? PLUS heat may bake the fuel or evaporate it, leaving the black stuff??
I am running my carb LEANER than last year.(less puddleing in the plenum?)
On the pics of the heads is that an area where the flow slows down before the shortside turn = fuel may drop out and the heat may bake the additives or whatever it is that is the black substance?
Lets figure this out! newalky |

I used brake cleaner. yes it came off easy
valves and seals are good, the heads have maybe 200 miles from new on them.
