im lookin to run on e85 know a little bit from reading around on the web
i have a 70 chevy c10
350 4 bolt main
forged Crank
pro top line aluminum heads 72cc chamber
all retro roller rocker
rubens racing cam 292/300 @50. 540/555 lift
144 b&m blower with flat top pistions
holley dp 850 4150 marine carb- but also have a 750 holley dp
aluminum fuel tank holley electric fuel pump.
compression ratio is about 9:5-1
mallory unilite disb. with MALLORY 685 HYFIRE VI DIGITAL
figured we could get more boost with the e85 and around around 5-7 pounds of boost saftly. i been lookin at a a couple places that sell carb kits, but ones around 80 and others range from 290 and up. lookin to convert the 850 marine because it seems to be better to run with the supercharger going to be a street truck pretty much a daily driver. but mite see some track but nothing to serious just for fun. may run nitrous later but not for awhile.
not sure if there is anything else to be said but can proivde more infomation if needed. |

It's ironic, but I just did an E85 carb for a guy with a roots blower in Vegas a couple weeks ago.
If you need a conversion Mark Sullens (goes by Drag Chevette on this forum) is your man in my opinion. If you are after a new E85 carb (about $200 more than a good conversion) then let me know -- I can help you out. I build all new stuff and can do a killer annular booster carb or a lower budget deal that will work well too.
Boost referencing would be a good idea as well, especially if you plan to step it up in the future.
On carb sizing, the bigger the better -- roots stuff almost always responds to bigger carburetors. Rarely do I recommend a big carb, but on a roots blower setup 850-1000 cfm would be my choice.
Whatever you do, do NOT do a conversion "kit." Kits are never complete and are missing some of the key components necessary to do the conversion right. Mainly the boosters in the main body are the part everyone seems to want to take the shortcut on. Special tool required and a lot of folks prefer to take a chance with the old (TOO SMALL) boosters instead of paying a few extra $$s and waiting a week to get the boosters done.
The other BIG part of the equation that is missing from kits is a good E85 tuneup. Especially for a blower motor. Too lean and that puppy will go pop no matter what octane fuel you are using.
Hope that helps! _________________ E85 racer and E85 carb builder

I can do a boost referenced 750 double pumper for $540 new plus shipping. That would be on the less expensive side. I could do an 850 (flows 925 cfm) for you that would be $680 plus shipping. There are other more expensive options, but you said you don't want to spend a lot of money . . . _________________ E85 racer and E85 carb builder

I can do the conversion, but to me...for the boost referenced stuff this would be your better option!
I can do and have done the boost stuff, but Eric really has a better handle on the boost stuff than I do because he has done more..and im not afraid to admit when it comes to boosted motors, he is better than I am + his stuff is new....I convert your used.
now again, I can do the conversion, but I might need my buddys help in the calibration.....
bottom line is how much do you have to spend?....im sure between Eric and I we can get you taken care of.... _________________ http://www.marksullense85carburetors.com |

That would be me. Thanks Eric. I was hoping to have it fired up this week but had some set backs.
Anyway, both Eric and Mark know their stuff. I went with Eric because I needed a new carb and one that was boost referenced. I went with the 750. I can't wait to get this thing fired up.

ALL-right looks like I found the right site!
Here is what I have and what I'm looking to do.
600cui BBF, 12-71 hampton. 2 x 1050 dommies, with a blower shop inter cooler.
Running a oil cooler and tranny cooler (heat exchangers water to fluid)
Blue-thunder heads 100cc
RACEPUMP fuel pump
Aeroquip fuel lines, Nylon braid.
Twin 35 gallon alunimum fuel tanks.
21 foot Hallett V-bottom, V-drive BOAT!
Aeromotive fuel filter.
Magnafuel fuel reg..
As of now she is set up for gas. (av 100LL)
What will I need to do to her to run E-85?
Carbs?
fuel lines?
fuel pump?
what about my valves and seats?
thanks in advance! |

carbs for sure , there are a few e85 carb builders on here both that can sell you new ones or set up your existing carbs to run e85
fuel lines and pump will need to handle 30-40% more volume than with gasoline so if you have the headroom you will be all set if not address as necessary _________________ PB's 1/4 mi 12.209, 117.75 trap ,1/8 mi 7.76 ,93.99 trap , 1.949 short time 4.53 0-60

Well I hope you get through to tuff spots Nick. Shoot me a PM or email or call when you fire it up. If you need any tune up help (not necessarily just carb stuff) just shout my way. _________________ E85 racer and E85 carb builder

That sounds like one badazz boat! I haven't done any boat stuff yet, but I do have a local resource that does turbo boat motors. He had a transom break 1.5 years ago and almost got killed when his boat came apart at 70 MPH. He said he was lucky he wasn't going very fast at the time (I laughed, in my book 70 is pretty darn fast in a boat).
Anyway . . . if you want to chat about carbs just give me a call some time. Phone number is on my website www.horsepowerinnovations.com _________________ E85 racer and E85 carb builder

Thanks for the help. I will be calling you.!
I'm just looking into E-85, seeing if it would be more Beneficial / economical to run it over AV-100LL..
