hi folks,
Iīve got 9 litres (~2 1/2 gallons) of methanol >99% for free Smile

should i mix it with my E35 in my car??

i ask because my E35 is made of a low level ethanol (white spirits), which contains ~6% water.
iīve tested my spirits, below E20-E25 the wate will separate from the gasoline Shocked

in a german forum i found that someone has tested methanol, but if the alcohol concentration is below 96% !! the water will separate.

has anyone here any experience using low level ethanol or low level methanol??

so i wait and donīt know what to do...using the free methanol for driving will be fine, but only if the water does not separate.

If it is dry methanol (over 99%pure) it should actually help keep the water absorbed. By the way the water separation is strongly influenced by temperature also. If you are concerned you could only add it when the weather was going to be warm for a few days.

If I was in your place I would probably do a quick experiment by pulling out about 200 cc of your gasoline mix and try adding some of the methanol and see how it changes the water separation tendency.

You could take your current fuel mix and see how much water you can add before its separates then add in some of the methanol and see if the water is pulled back into solution.

Or you could see how cold you need to chill your current fuel mix before the water separates out, and then see how adding some of the methanol changes the separation point temperature.

yes, itīs dry methanol, and the tests you suggest i will make this weekend.

and until today the temp is not a problem, although it falls below 0°...and i hope that continues (the "not-problem) in the nearby future, too.
