Here's a buddies 2JZ powered Nissan 240sx running on E85 pump fuel!
It's got a fully built Toyota 2JZ 6cyl motor with a 2-speed glide behind it. Power was made at 31psi. of boost.
At the track on regular street tires it ran a best time of 10.7@152mph. Switch to full sicks and the very first pass it did a 9.18@157mph.
This is a full street car with AC, PS etc. The car is owned and built by Jason from 'Big Daddy Performance Center.

Yes, very nice. Cool to see such a little motor make good power and get it to the pavement like that. Too often you see dyno glory numbers on the net that never get proven at the track.
Did you guys do any tweaking on the fuel curve? I'm curious because I am working on an SBC blow through project at similar boost PSI and 12:1 AFR (gasoline numbers) seemed too lean for our combo. You might find some power at the spots where it gets over 12:1 -- looks almost 13:1 at 120 MPH. _________________ E85 racer and E85 carb builder

The lean spot on the curve above was around 12.3 and that was due to a little wheel spin/unloading on the dyno.
We actually did most of the tuning at the track.

Just a little update.
Took the car to MIR to compete at the World Cup finals. Entered in the ET Bracket class.
Made a couple of 9.30 runs laying on the brake all day.
In the semifinal I finally decided to drive it like I stole it.
Anyway here's the timeslip from that run. And yes I accidently laid on the brake again. Now if only I did not. Like they say in racing, woulda, coulda, shoulda!
60ft..........1.45
330..........3.82
1/8...........5.744
1/8mph.....129.48
1000.........7.39
1/4............8.84
1/4mph............149.35 |

I was in that event also, running the White 1969 Dodge Dart in the Street ET class running E85. I made it down to 6 cars left and red lighted with a -0.005 RT. The air was good that weekend and my car went:

1/8...........5.796
1/8mph.....116
1000.........7.639

It is pretty cool that MIR posted detailed results in each class.
Qualifying positions/times and round by round results.
http://importvsdomestic.com/wcf/results_09/index.htm
These were my RTs (footbrake, non-electronics):
1st: 0.016
2nd: 0.029
3rd: 0.050
4th: 0.040
5th: -.005 and ran 9.221 on a 9.22 dial-in ... |

Nice run. Great 60ft.
I cant believe we were at the same event and did not get to meet up.
I remember your car. The cold dry air was nice for power and great track times. Speaking about cold air our 83% E85 did not want to start earlier that morning at the track. Thank god we had some carb cleaner to use as a priming fluid! _________________ AWD MOTORSPORTS 8.75@162 EVO8 GSR E85

When I ran alky (methanol) in the spring, on cold days I would squirt some gasoline down the throttle body (a couple times) to get it started. I have good luck with the E85, but I do have an electric priming pump to get fuel to the injectors (and prime the engine) so the mechanical pump doesn't have to crank forever.
Methanol guys with my setup (mechanical pump injection) often have a separate priming injector in the intake with a small gasoline tank and pump for starting, especially in cold weather.
My car is a killer off the line, but it doesn't have the hp or aerodynamics for MPH. |
