|

I would like to have a GPS, where I could hit a "find E-85" button, and it would show a map to the nearest few E-85 stations.
Some GPS units come with maps including gas stations. Most GPS units can accept programmable way-points, but usually only a handful. I'd like something where I can download a list of hundreds of gas stations (by Lat/Lon), to replace the built-in list of gas stations. |

Hi,
Ah the good old days... Batman needs to stop for fuel so he checks with Onstar for the nearest fueling station that can top off the Batmobile. When was that? I know the early Onstar was kind of a portable handset, but "Batman" I think had the "console push button(s)".
Is/Was Onstar available as an add on for older non-Onstar GM Vehicles? |

You might want to drop a line to Garmin and Trimble they are the two biggest players in consumer GPS units and suggest they add that to their maps indexes.
I'm sure the several million FFV owners would be glad to have that feature as more E85 outlets come on line.

It looks like Garmin has free software to program a GPS with custom Points of Interest:
http://www.garmin.com/products/poiloader/
It appears to take a CSV file and produce a POI file, uploadable to a Garmin Streetpilot, or other GPS which is capable of working with Garmin's Points of Interest CD.
They have links to some custom on-line Points-of-Interest websites; so-far, it appears that stop-on-red cameras and speed traps are the most popular use of this feature
So... anyone have an eTrex Venture? I'd prefer something smaller (mounting on motorcycle handlebars). |

If anybody has street addresses including zip code OR longitude and latitude of most E85 fuel stops, it would be relatively easy for me to make a complete set of "way points" for almost all Garmin GPS units. _________________ Jim Puckett, PE
