I have noticed MANY parts on the truck say "flex".. The fuel rail, fuel lines and a few others. I am wondering, just how close is the truck to being a E85 truck. A sensor and computer flash perhaps?? I've been running E85 in it up to about a 65% mix and it keeps the light off but it sure would be nice to have it working the way it's suppose to. I've been getting E85 for 1.60 a gallon |

Just because it's not marked as a flex fuel doesn't mean it might not be a FFV. Some manufactures made FFV with out designating them as such.
Check the Vin # to see:
http://www.e85fuel.com/information/vin.php
I would think that most of the parts are the same as the FFV if it is not. It is more cost effective for mass production to make all the same parts rather than different ones.
65% E85 on most non-FFV would set off the check engine light by at least a half of a tank full. _________________ Jeremy Nicholls |

It's not.. It has to have engine code Z to be flex. Mine is T.. If you run e85 in it you get the lean exhaust code.
I bought the alldatadyi.com for the truck with flex fuel to compair part numbers and parts.. BIG MISTAKE, a chilton has more info. A big disapointment as other alldatadiy products I have bought have been very impressive. When I did a search for "piston" on the flex truck it said it did not have one.. (well.. technically, it does not have one.. it has 8.. but anyways) |

Does anyone have links to a Chevy S-10 parts fiche, FFV and non-FFV?
If not, you could ask a dealer parts desk for a quote to replace the fuel pump, pressure regulator and injectors in your FFV S-10... then ask another dealer for the same quote for non-FFV. Usually the quote will have the part numbers printed on it.
If would be pretty cool to find a totalled FFV S-10 in a wrecker's yard. You could probably cut a deal on buying the whole fuel system. But I'm not sure that the wreckers will be able to search based on VIN number, so that could involve alot of looking. |

| Gonna need the fuel sensor (to know if it's e85 or gas) and the brain box too. Might need a new wiring harness. I have been trying to find wiring diagrams for my truck to see where plugs for the e85 related stuff should be. It's possiable the harness is the same (a few extra plugs, or 2 different wiring runs.. might be cheaper to just do one with plugs) |
